I WANNA QUIT!!!

I am sure a lot of us have been there.  You are on that really bad losing streak.  You can't seem to win, let alone the fact you are getting butt punted every time you put a shiny man on the table.  Yes, this happened to me.  Yes... oh yes.  The source of my frustration?  The above.  The fact that I put a TON of work into an in progress army that got beat so horribly I wanted to hide my head in shame.  Thankfully I had a REALLY good, friendly opponent.  Against almost anyone else I would have quit.

So the question of this very short discussion piece is:  What do you do to/How do you come back from your negative times (on the table) in the hobby?

I take solace in the fact that my army is something a bit different and unique, and try to imagine whats happening on the tabletop in a cinematic way. I dont think i've won a game at all this year, in fact i'm not sure I've won since I started playing guard. The reason I started guard is because i got sick of losing with orks - yes, i am that bad at 40k.

At the end of it all, you just have to remember its a game, you dont play to win you play to play. As your infantry squads get cut down by multi-limbed gribblys, just think about how cool that would look in a film.

Also, eating ben and jerrys and getting pissed helps.

I hear ya man, I remember when I started playing my deathwing. I rarely won a game but sticking with it I think I have found things that work and things that don't. I guess when all things are said and done I enjoyed making the army, the fluff associated with it and the group of players that we have in our club.

Since starting fantasy I see my gobbos in the same place where my Deathwing was. For me its going to take time to figure out this new army whats good and whats not and how things are done in addition to actually learning how to play fantasy lol.

I am always eger to have a game, even with the squabbling goblins :P

I play for fun and don't build competitive lists. When I lose I simply analyze the situation logically to determine why I lost.

The conclusion is usually one of the following: 1)I lost because my opponent is a power gamer and his list has been tailored to do nothing more than win. 2)I lost because my opponent chose to use a 'deathstar' unit in a small points game. 3)I was tactically out foxed by my opponent and they deservingly took the win.

If I lost because of #1 or #2 then I don't let it affect me.

I think this is worst for vet players over noobs as the new guys have very little for a point of referance.

But when a vet tries a new army, comp or play style it gets abit more harrowing when you dont see results right away, sometimes not for awhile.

Sometimes all ya gotta do is remember that before you play a game there is gonna be 1 of 2 things happening, your either gonna win or lose, simple as that.

Although it does help to have a great opponent and wonderfully painted minis and terraign in front of you hehe.

Doompickle said it best: stick it out. The ONLY reason I have success with my Eldar is by playing virtually the same list until I figured out how everything worked, then started adding in new units. Just like with any practice, consistency is key. Sometimes you just have to take your lumps and keep your eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel.
